Discharge Planning..

It has been a busy day at the hospital as the plans went into action for discharge. Maisy is getting ready to come home. We are so used to all of Maisy's needs that it is easy to forget the complexity of her world. Today, after consulting with 4 doctors, ordering new prescriptions, restarting home nursing, updating the home care supply company (PHS) with the changes, we have a target discharge time...Tomorrow at noon! Wow, I am quickly reminded of how complex this little girl is!
The ultimate goal after the surgical procedures she has had is that she would be able to handle bolus feedings. That would mean that she would not have to be hooked up to a feeding pump for 18 hours a day. This is a very long term goal for Maisy but that is what we will work toward. For now, we will be happy to get her to the goal of 18 hours a day on the pump instead of 24 hours like it is right now.
She was signing a lot today...saying "Daddy" and "Drive" which means ---take me home! She is ready to come home and we can't wait. She had a great time with the music therapist also..I think that might be a great therapy for her as she starts to learn to use her voice (she has a valve that goes on her trach that helps be able to talk while trached.)
Things will be busy around home as we adjust to her the new changes that these surgeries bring with it. But, we can't wait to be under one roof all together again...
